For Day 2, I want to introduce you to Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan’s Purse was founded by Bob Pierce
in 1970. Pierce penned these now famous
but seldom accredited words:
“Let
my heart be broken with the things that break the heart of God.”
The words came from witnessing the suffering of children on
the Korean island of Kojedo. He was
driven to start an organization that would provide emergency relief to crisis area
around the world.
Franklin Graham, the son of evangelist Billy Graham, took
over leadership of SP after Pierce’s death in 1978. He continues to lead their work more than 30
years later.
Ministries range from agriculture, to construction, to
medical, to water and women’s programs.
You can donate to any or all of these through their website.
Right now there is a Volunteer Alert for an urgent need in the areas affected by flooding in Colorado.
Money isn’t the only way you can impact people. You can use your time.
It’s just another way you can change the world for less than
$50.
Oh that is one of my favorite quotes, I had not put the two together! Thank you for telling us more about Samaritan Purse!!
ReplyDeleteI know!! I had no idea that is where these words had come from. I love learning things like that.
