Behind the Scenes: Life Around the Train Tracks

What little boy isn’t consumed with the notion of motion?  Cars, trucks, planes, boats, slides, roller coasters, bicycles, skateboards…..

If it can be pushed, pulled, driven or thrown there is a special place for it in a boy’s heart.

This road weary mama has a few too many miles under her seat to be quite as enamored most days.  Don’t get me wrong.  I love a good vacation or going to visit family and friends.  I like new and I love familiar.

Adventure has a different spin in this family.  Today we make our 9th move.  That little guy is making his third!  We are staying in the same area, but it is a big move nonetheless.

So what you couldn’t see in that first photo was the packed boxes and workers installing thermostats that were missed during construction.  In the midst of chaos, there is always room to pack your imagination and playfulness.  Like Thomas the Tank Engine, it can be really useful.

Today I’m linking up with my dear friend Crystal to let you in on what happens behind the scenes in my life.

    1. The movers are arriving any minute so it will be awhile. I'll just use my imagination for what settled looks like now. :)

  2. Amy, praying that the unpacking goes smoothly and that you all feel settled and at home before long. That picture brought back memories... my son (he's 17) LOVED Thomas the Tank Engine - He slept with his Thomas train every night!

  3. Praying your move goes well, friend. What sweet pictures, too...even though I've got a girl, she likes trains and trucks, too. I love the creativity and imagination they have at this age. So fun. :) Blessings to you!

    1. Thanks so much. I think that they all enjoy these types of toys. i know my son also likes playing tea and pretend cooking, too. Anything that lets them use those imaginations!

    1. He was more than content - there were workers using power tools, too! Thank you for your prayers. :)

  5. I know this all too well with my own little guy. :) We unfortunately didn't find our train tracks for quite a while after this move, but they had been packed for over 3 months, so luckily he didn't really seem to notice ;) Praying your move went well and that you are settling in. We have been in our home for over 2 weeks and still aren't fully unpacked :)

    1. The furniture goes today. I've been moving boxes for over a week and have a bit yet to do. It is nice to be so close and have the time overlap. Good luck with your unpacking, too. Sometimes it's months later and I'm still not fully unpacked. :)

  7. I would give my left arm to be with you tonight to unpack boxes and hang pictures (but without a left arm they might be crooked). Anyway, happy unpacking. I so wish I could be there to help you. XOXOXO

    1. Good thing I don't even have any pictures here to hang! You could supervise and pur coffee, though! :)

    1. Thanks for being awesome, friend. I see serious downsizing in my future. It's a little ridiculous here. Start planning a little road trip down. :)

    1. I went to read, but no clues. TN is a big state. :) Hope your move is much less exhausting than mine has been.
