I am blessed to have 2 nephews and 2 nieces. My big guy’s brother has two sons and my
sister, Jennifer has two daughters.
Each has their own distinct personality and appearance. Now that I think about it, the oldest nephew
and the youngest niece actually look the most alike, yet aren’t related at
all. The youngest nephew and oldest
niece aren’t terribly different, but again no relation. Crazy!!
Daniel is graduating from high school next month. I am entirely proud to say that he was
accepting into the very demanding School of Engineering at Virginia Tech for
the fall. Pretty sure that I will not be
pulling for the Hokies in any sport, but I’ll be pulling for his success at
every turn. (Come back for Q to find my
reason)
Mark is in middle school.
He is beyond special. He is sensitive and artistic, but is learning to
be outgoing and somewhat of a public figure.
Mark has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is the unofficial ambassador
for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in our home area. Car shows and parades are becoming as much a
part of his life as 5 hour drives to his specialists. Next time you are asked to buy a shamrock or
fill the boot for your local fire department, think of him.
My oldest niece is in second grade. Recently she has started karate classes. This little girl who can be so tough is
learning some skills that will back up and contain that toughness all at the same
time. She is also a total cowgirl at
heart. Nothing beat the brown and purple
cowboy boots with a cute dress when it’s time for church. I can’t tell you how much my little guy loves
this girl and her sister. They might as
well be brother and sisters!
My youngest niece is the other redheaded bookend. If I had to think of the perfect phrase to
describe her it would be tomboy princess.
There is a photo from her birthday party a couple summers ago that
completely captures her essence. She is
preparing to hit a tee ball while wearing a tiara, pink sparkly dress and NO
SHOES. It is absolute perfection. She has always loved dancing and is taking
some gymnastics now that she can incorporate into her ballet (emphasis on the
second syllable).
These four amazing people have stretched me and grown my
heart in ways I could have never imagined. I am completely in love with them all!

ReplyDeleteNieces and nephews are the best ! I have 20 nieces and nephews (courtesy of having 25 first cousins!)
I love how they coming running up to me almost squealing my name out. Now I know how my own uncles and aunts feel whenever I go over to visit them :)
Love them all to bits, but damn they leave me broke hahah !
20!! That is amazing, as is the 25 first cousins. I only have 3 of those with a total of 4 other kids. They can make you go broke real fast, but I just love them all! Thanks so much for stopping by.
DeleteSo very sweet. I have one neice and one nephew on my side, and four nephews and three neices on Captain's side. They all live far away except for my nephew.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just hate them being so far away! 6 hours is too much for my liking.
