This is the post I’ve put off until the last minute to
write. This is one I want to get
right. There’s too much to say – 40+
years of history together sees to that.
The hard part is to know where to start and when to
stop. Sisterhood is tricky. We throw that word around for groups of
friends and kindred spirits we meet as we journey through life.
Sharing a bathroom, jeans, your parents’ attention, DNA –
those are some of the things that for better or for worse make sisterhood.
(Yeah, I know the DNA thing isn’t an absolute requirement.)
Many times, for seasons or years, there may even be more
worse than better and hopefully you outgrow it like we have. But there is always a deep love, even if it’s
unspoken and covered with angry words and the occasional fight. Even when things are tense – YOU DON’T MESS
WITH MY SISTER!
Jennifer even has her whole page here. What you’ll not read is her amazing work
ethic, loyalty, creativity and fierce love for family. Her husband and daughters are blessed and a
blessing. My son thinks his aunt is the
best. She has a special nickname for him
and he reserves his trademark “kitty cat kisses” for her.
We recently got to spend a weekend together being
tourists in DC. There is never enough
time to just hang out.
My memory is full to the brim of bad movies, beach
vacations, church, family gatherings.
You’ll have to trust me when I say that you really should be jealous
that Jennifer is not your sister.
Did I mention that she is a killer gift-giver and can
guess anything wrapped in any box? It’s
crazy, but just another thing that makes her who she is. I am truly the blessed one!
There truly is something special about the relationship between sisters!! I also have a sister that I'm very proud of and who is a great inspiration to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I wish I had fully appreciated this early on. Live and learn!
DeleteVery sweet and a lovely and loving tribute to sisterhood and what sounds like a wonderful sister.
ReplyDeleteShe really is! Thanks so much.
DeleteWhat a sweet tribute to your sister!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much.
DeleteWhat lovely words, it's great that you are so close. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish we were closer geographically, but thank you. :)
DeleteYou all sound very fortunate to have such a nice relationship. I don't see my brothers and sisters much since I live very far from them. We have a great time when we are together.

Tossing It Out
Thank you for stopping by and for hosting this. I've never been so prolific. Today happens to be my one year blogiversary!! I'm closer to my family now, 6.5 hrs compared to 12, so I understand that travel. I believe I saw that you have East TN in your heart. Just up from there in VA is my neck of the woods. Come by any time.
DeleteSister love! Blessed indeed!!!
ReplyDeleteYou, Janey and Rita are wonderful examples for me!
DeleteSweetness. I'm glad you have such a good relationship with her. Y'all look alike!
