I like to consider myself athletic, even if not an athlete. I’ve always wanted to be good at sports. I’m not! I do enjoy working out with Zumba or a rowing machine. I love ticking miles on the odometer of my bicycle. The feel of a perfectly placed shot in tennis gives me a total rush of exhilaration.
Knowing that the hard work
is making a difference is the key.
Whether it is by strength, endurance, or accuracy I am pleased with
change and growth in myself.
I
can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians
4:13 (NKJV)
Do
you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the
prize? Run in such a way as to get the
prize.
I've never been good at sports but I love to walk on the treadmill, go for long walks and do strength training. I'll definitely do more of that really soon. Exercising does so much good not only for the body but for the soul too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I was just at you place and LOVE you blog name. Brilliant! Exercising just makes me feel so much more alive, unless I feel like I'm ready to pass out in a workout or so sore I can hardly move. :)
DeleteHahaha, thank you! Did you read the sidebar info about the history behind the name? Too funny :)
DeleteYes, that was hilarious. Irish music, like bluegrass gets a little diddley to me too after a while. :)
DeleteLooking good, girl! And it seems to me that being an Athlete is less about Ability and more about Attitude. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the verses that you shared- they have been some of my favorite motivation verses!!
Ha Ha!! Look at you being all alliterative and sneaking your word in there! You are on a creative tear girl. Those verses have gotten me up and over hills I thought I couldn't climb.
DeleteI don't like working out, but was good at sports when I was younger. Now arthritis has me in need of doing maintenance type exercises at home...pretty much daily. It's not going away and so I keep at it; but it's not exciting. I do love to ride my bike; though can't do many miles at a time. Just bought a odometer for my cruiser last year. Had to laugh when I saw how fast/slow I was going.
ReplyDeleteKeep at it
Cruisers are so much fun. Happiness is a great mental workout. I love your Flat Stanley ideas. Need to print that off and have some fun with my little guy. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThanks so much Amy for the comment on my blog! I love doing this blogging challenge. I, too, have to exercise to keep my joints moving, and no, it isn't exciting. Only necessary! Good luck!
DeleteLisa, thanks for visiting here. Enjoying all of the new blogs and people I've discovered just today.
DeleteI ran yesterday! lol But God is going to have to do a lot of strenghtening before I can run more than 5 minutes straight! ;)
ReplyDeleteRunning is not my thing. I would be hard pressed to do 5 minutes, too. You keep going - for the both of us. :)
DeleteWow, you really look healthy and strong! Have you always been athletic? I've never been, but I would like to get in better shape. Your pics inspire me!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I've always enjoyed playing sports and being active. Just find something you love and go for it! Thanks for coming by.
DeleteAwesome for you! It's so great to find happiness in the things that also heal us and make us stronger :)
ReplyDeleteI'm on a similar journey. I was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and while I'm learning my limits I'm also learning how far I can go :)
Excellent! Keep it up and you will be amazed at how your limits might shift. Glad you came by.
DeleteA healthy body = a healthy mind. So good for you Amy!
ReplyDeleteI'm swinging by from the A to Z Challenge!
Thanks. I went to yours, but not sure that my comment registered. What a fun idea!
DeleteLooking good, Amy! I'm getting back into the groove after back-to-back foot injuries. I'm with you-- love sports, love new activities. It's great for an overall sense of well-being!
ReplyDeleteOoh, foot and ankle injuries just rule your life, don't they? Glad you are on the mend. Now if we could just get this crazy VA weather to cooperate!
DeleteHi, Amy.
ReplyDeleteI wish I'd get back on the exercise wagon, but no luck so far. Thanks for those quotes. Good reminders.

Thanks for stopping by. Maybe those verses can just give the little push you are looking for. Your A-Z theme is fascinating.
DeleteI am SO the same way. I WANT to be athletic but feel as if I am simply pushing myself every step of the way. I may have been made for long island teas and front porches... though I've never had a long island tea. LOL
ReplyDeleteSweet tea and lemonade then! I am a total endurance lounger! :)
