HOME

Home is such an amorphous word.  It changes and flexes and contracts in my rearview mirror.  It’s new and old, unfamiliar, and known like that back of my hand.  I have one and I’ve had many – here, there and everywhere.  Actually, not “here”.  Here has never felt like home to me.  I don’t know if it has to do with the house that we rent, the time it took to get to know a single person, the fact that our church is so large that personal connections are just now starting to form – nearly two years after we arrived.

Some say home is where you hang your hat.  I say home is where your family and friends are.  You can have more than one home at a time if, like me, you have moved more times than you care to count and upon occasion find that odd colored sticker from the moving company 3 moves ago.

As much as I love/hate moving around this amazing country, I know this is not my final destination.  I have a home that’s being prepared especially for me.  It’s going to be the most amazing home because all my friends will be gathered in one place.  The Landlord?  Well, it doesn’t get any better than living with our Heavenly Father and Jesus now, does it?

Time (plus about 45 seconds)

Take a few minutes to sit back and sing along with what has become my personal theme song.  This is one of those perfect songs that has great lyrics, a catchy tune, and invites you to sing along at the top of your lungs.  Who cares if the people in the car next to you think you are crazy???

    1. My favorite is hearing my 4 yo sing along in the car or just walking around the house. It makes me more anxious and holds me over all at the same time. So glad you came by today.

  4. I always feel cozy in your cyber home. and will soon invade your ears with the accent of my homeland broadening the home you and I are decorating:)

    The city we live in now--it's big. I'm not a big city gal and have to remind myself this is my mission field as I work for His glory on the way to my real Home...it keeps road rage away from me:)

    for the record: I LOVE THAT SONG! love.
    and you, Amy. I cherish. {HUGS}

    1. I can't wait to hear you voice for realz! I try not to imagine it, but I have inklings because of my time spent in Chicago - I like the city as much as the country. Everywhere is a mission field and I too often forget that when I get comfortable. For the record: I have a big grin right now cherished friend. :]

  8. Perfect. :) Home is where your heart is. When your heart is with God, then your home is with Him too.

    1. Oh, I hope so! I hope I never fall in love so deeply with what is right in front of me that I'm satisfied with what I have.

  9. I think we grow up with an image of what "home" is going to be when we're adults, and it rarely ever makes it to reality. For me, that feeling I associate with "home" happens when I see your sweet, encouraging comments on my blog. When I watch God building communities of women around the world online. When we get to hug our online friends in real life and know that they are only a DM, email or chat away for support. You cultivate "home" for so many.
